North Island Distance Education School

Navigate’s Parent Advisory Council (PAC)

As a Navigate parent, you’re automatically a member of the Parent Advisory Council (PAC); just how involved you choose to be is up to you.

The PAC plays a vital advisory role to school administration. It helps shape decisions on our educational platform and even purchases equipment to support student learning. The PAC also plans and organizes several student events and outings throughout the year, giving students and parents alike a chance to foster relationships and complement school curricula.

PAC meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m. Because our parent community is so widely distributed across northern Vancouver Island and beyond, most meetings are held online using Elluminate Live “virtual boardroom” technology.  Agendas, minutes and even entire Elluminate sessions are posted to our website, so you can always stay informed about what’s going on at your child’s school.

Once you get a feel for the way the PAC operates and see the valuable work it does in both its advisory and community-building roles, you may choose to put your name forward for a seat on the executive, serving as either chair, vice-chair, secretary or treasurer. However much or little you choose to get involved, your contribution and feedback is always appreciated!
