Moira Ashlee, Grade 8 & 9 and Interaction Teacher

Here at Navigate, I teach grades 8 and 9 students. I also teach the Interaction class at G.P. Vanier School. My strengths as a teacher are encouraging students to do the best that they can and making them feel supported. I enjoy being active and staying fit, coaching, and doing things with my family.

Deb Benson, Secondary Science Teacher

Secondary Science Teacher who values the ''simple life": spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, making connections with nature and leading a healthy & active lifestyle. 

Derek Brenchley, Secondary Language Teacher

Secondary Language Teacher passionate about both teaching and learning new languages. I speak fluent Spanish and French, and am currently studying Italian in RosettaStone. My hobbies include running, cycling, juggling, adventure travel, baseball, and cooking. Bon appétit!

Alison Burns, Learning Support Teacher

I love my job as a Learning Support Teacher! I am lucky to work with all ages and meet amazing families from all over the North Island. I enjoy reading, drawing and researching Special Education. I am thankful to have two kids, two cats, two dogs and two chickens. Please drop in and visit! 

Melody Ferguson, Senior Science Teacher

Senior Science Teacher interested in helping students be successful and enjoy learning. My passions include singing, dancing, running, and Social Justice issues. Originally from Vancouver, I have settled in the Comox Valley which I love and where I am very fortunate to have my family also live. 

John Gair, Grade 7-10 Teacher

Grade 7 to 10 Teacher interested in helping learners pursue their individualized learning. I enjoy technology, computer simulations, virtual worlds, anything to do with history and hands on science. I conduct interaction classes and tutorials in Qualicum Beach/ Parksville and Nanaimo. Favorite type of books and movies: historical fiction.

 Jennifer Hibbert, Senior Humanities & Aboriginal Student Support Teacher

 I teach Senior Humanities and am the Aboriginal Student support teacher. My sparks are my   children, nature, literature, and supporting my students to find success in their courses.

Linda Howey, Learning Support Teacher

I am a Learning Support Teacher who loves to read, watch movies, explore garage sales, thrift stores and auctions for bargains. I sincerely believe in the medicinal properties of chocolate and that laughter is crucial to teaching and learning.

Father of three, musician, educator and principal, and advocate for school based mental health. Loves to run, bike, ski and play hockey and can often be found lurking around his BBQ!

Roger Vernon, E-cademy of New Technologies, Engineering and Robotics (ENTER) Teacher

A Technology Education Teacher by training, my interests, passions and curiosities encompass everything engineering, robotics and technology related.  However, it is important to me that I live a balanced life.  I find this balance in music, gardening, the outdoors (including a slight fishing addiction), and spending time with family and friends.
