Cross enrollment with Navigate (Powered by NIDES) allows high school students throughout BC to optimize theirschool year calendar, access more elective courses, and meet their graduation requirements. This is great news for students and BC high school counsellors who are sometimes forced to omit elective courses in order to accommodate the limited availability of mandatory courses. With the help of technology and the well-established processes of distributed learning, all BC high school students can enrol for mandatory courses through Navigate, and still access courses in their local high school.
The flexibility of course schedules is just one advantage of cross enrollment. It also offers BC high school students a valuable self-directed component to conventional high school classes, which better prepares high school graduates for post-secondary studies, entering the work force, or developing their own career strategy. Exploring the options of cross-enrollment often motivates students too, by providing a more flexible schedule to meet graduating requirements sooner, accommodate extracurricular activities, or part time employment schedules.
Navigate (powered by NIDES) is a fully funded and accredited BC school operating within the Comox Valley School District No. 71 on Vancouver Island. The cross enrollment protocols have been successfully implemented through Navigate for many years and are fully approved by the BC Ministry of Education. Our school has a proven track record of success, working with over 1500 secondary students from 150 brick and mortar schools across BC. When students cross enrol for a high school course through Navigate, their current high school is contacted to make sure that they get full credit for completing the Navigate course and that the course credits are included when calculating their graduation requirements.
Cross-enrollment registrations at NIDES are accepted throughout the year, including summer months with professional teachers available for support. If you have questions about cross-enrollment, call Navigate at (250) 337-5300.
