Intro to the Trades Grades 6 - 8

September 23, 2013

Leadership students spent the first week of the year at the STEP program learning to make and pour concrete, do some simple welding, and earning several safety certificates.  This was a first for NIDES/Navigate students.

Building on that experience, and their positive reviews,  we have asked for times from Randy Grey and Oliver Felsing so that we can do an “Introduction to the Trades” program with ENTER, FAE, and iClass students in grades 6-8.

Students will apply and will attend all day on two successive Fridays.  The first session is set for November 1st and 8th.  We have room for 12 students from the Enter, FAE, and iClass students.  It should be a good opportunity for students from these different programs to work together and make and cement friendships.  (There will be a second intake for February 21st and 28th and we will ask for a Spring intake is the demand warrants it.)

Students signing up for the “Intro to the Trades” program will have an opportunity to work with hand and power tools, do some basic wiring and learn about drywall and how to cut and use it.

Let Stew Savard or your student’s teacher know if you are interesting in signing up for this program.”
