On May 29th parents, friends, teachers, grandparents and many others gathered in the Tsolum gym as a very excitable K – 7 student body prepared for their grand black-light performance!
The students have been working diligently with local Artist and Educator Kevin Flesher on creating a fantastic black-light extravaganza! Kevin spent one day a week for the last two months working with each grade level on creating puppets and characters for the multi-aged show. Navigate students, teachers and their dynamic leader Kevin wrote a script based on Portuguese Creek and how the actions of people affect its natural environment.
The show started with Kevin playing the accordion, followed by a warm welcome given by our Navigate students. Soon after, the lights were off and the stage was glowing beautifully under the black-lights. The audience was captivated throughout the entire performance with catchy songs, glowing puppets and an extremely clever storyline. The time, effort, dedication and hard work put in by the students was truly emulated in this wonderful performance! An amazing job by all! Congratulations K-7 Navigate students, teachers and Kevin Flesher! Everyone truly enjoyed the phenomenal show!

Navigate students from the Nanaimo area have also been working hard with Kevin. They created a black-light show based on the Chinese version of 'Stone Soup', designing their own set and puppets. The students are enthusiastically looking forward to showcasing their performance on June 1st at Beban Park at 1:00pm. It is sure to be a glowing success!
