About Navigate
Navigate NIDES has been providing education to BC families since 1989 and was proudly one of the 9 original distance education schools in British Columbia. We are learning pioneers and have always embraced the principles of “blended learning” by using new technologies to enhance learning at home and to create meaningful connections between students, teachers, and their communities. Today over 16,000 part time and full-time students enroll with Navigate NIDES. Though many of our students live in communities within central and northern Vancouver Island, we serve K-12 students throughout the province of BC.
As the needs of our students and their families have changed, so have our course offerings and our locations which now include our Tsolum Campus, Independent Learning Centres in all three Comox Valley high schools, and satellite schools around the province.
Our programming has evolved from offering simple distance education in BC to a rich slate of online learning options such as K-9 blended programs, high school courses, adult education, programming partnerships, and the largest selection of international language programs in the Pacific Northwest. Navigate NIDES is a fully funded and accredited BC school offering blended and online learning that meets all provincially mandated learning outcomes and is directed by a BC-certified teacher.
We are very proud of our leadership in blended learning, receiving the Canadian Innovators in Education Award for our Fine Art eCademy program in 2016, and the iNACOL Innovative Blended and Online Learning Practice Award in 2014.
The name “Navigate” reflects our commitment to leadership in the personalized learning, exploration, and guidance of our students on their lifelong educational journey.

Philosophy
Everything we do is based upon our fundamental belief that the key to an effective, lasting education is to empower each student to learn in his or her own manner.
That includes working with each student individually to find their unique spark of interest that will motivate their own personal process of discovery. We strive to give our students the flexibility to learn at their own pace and in the style that best fits their lifestyle and learning needs, while providing the guidance, resources and one-on-one support to help them succeed.
